As enterprises rush to embrace big data, a new breed of specialist companies has sprung up to help them master the technology.
In Europe, one of the emerging leaders is London-based Big Data Partnership, which today unveils a partnership to deliver Intel’s Apache Hadoop distribution, adding to a line-up that already includes close alliances with Hortonworks, MapR and DataStax.
Co-founder and CTO Tim Seears — a true ‘rocket scientist’ as he previously worked at NASA — outlined the company’s philosophy when I visited its offices at the late last month:
“Our aim is to get our clients from non-understanding to a working platform and business value as rapidly as we can.�?
Early adopting industries in the company’s customer base include oil and gas, financial services, telecoms, broadcast media, social media and gaming.
